Deliberate Practice
in Sim Racing

I'm Russell. I'm running a 12-month experiment to see how far deliberate practice can take someone in sim racing. One car, four tracks, public data. This site documents the process.

What I'm doing

Driving the Super Formula Lights in iRacing, exclusively on four tracks: Monza, Silverstone, Suzuka, and Spa. Locked for the full year. Warm tires only for measurement. Heavy use of active resets to isolate corners and build rep density.

What I'm measuring

The main signal is variance collapse — whether my lap time standard deviation shrinks over weeks and months. I also track best lap trends, sector consistency, and session-to-session retention.

Speed matters, but consistency matters more. A fast outlier lap tells you less than a tight cluster of laps.
